Noble Energy, Inc. Sr. Petrophysicist - Pore Pressure & Geomechanics in Houston, Texas

  • Proven track record of project initiation, management and completion including the ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize work.

  • Has strong interpersonal skills with a focus on across team collaboration.

  • Provides drilling engineering with high quality estimates of pore pressure, fracture pressure and collapse pressure for well planning and design.

  • Supports drilling engineering during well operations.

  • Able to generate pore and fracture pressure volumes and geomechanical properties from seismic data.

  • Comprehends how pressure models are used as an Exploration and Development tool to help locate and de-risk economic accumulations of hydrocarbons.

  • Undertakes logs editing, merging and petrophysical calculations for input to pore pressure, geomechanics and seismic rock property workflows.

  • Applies and integrates seismic rock physics and geomechanical property calculations.

  • Develops stress tensor and rock strength models to estimate well bore stability.

  • Is familiar with seismic velocity analysis methods and velocity model building workflows.

  • Undertakes fluid substitution analysis to model seismic response to pore fluid type.

  • Uses seismic attributes to evaluate potential geohazards at planned well locations.

  • Works with data management staff to build concise and comprehensive well data bases that can be utilized by Business Units for quantitative geological and geophysical modeling.

  • Works with vendors to QC LWD and wire-line data as it is collected and then integrates the data into seismic rock property, pore pressure and geomechanical models.

  • Understands pore pressure and geomechanics contractor workflows and has the ability to QC vendors work.

  • Mentors staff in methods and application of seismic petrophysics, pore pressure and geomechanical modeling.

  • Has experience with one or more commercial software packages: Ikon RokDoc , Paradigm Geolog, Paradigm EPOS, Schlumberger Techlog

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, reservoir engineering, or relevant science based curriculum

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Typically requires 8 years of related experience.

  • Prefer advanced training in petrophysics.
