Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Geophysicist located in Maracaibo, Zulia. In this role, will be used existing 2D/3D seismic surveys, well logs, and production data from Boscan to enhance reservoir characterization and optimize the selection of new well locations. This opportunity allows to play a crucial role in shaping the development of one of Chevron’s largest heavy oil fields, which still holds significant remaining resources. The position requires strong technical leadership and the ability to mentor national earth scientists.Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Support the development of 30+ new wells annually through Petro Boscan well maturation processes and collaborations with engineering and drilling groups.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement of the geological models by incorporating data from seismic.

  • Coordinate studies with CTC SME"s to get most of the value from the existing seismic.

  • Participation in primary and secondary oil recovery projects.

  • Perform fault analysis to identify reservoir compartments and potential issues for the ongoing waterflood project.

  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition and improvement.

  • Effectively apply new technologies and methodologies in order to maximize the value obtained from the seismic.

  • Combine well correlation and advance seismic interpretation tools to improve the reservoir characterization.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience as geologist/geophysicist, including 5 years of experience doing seismic interpretation, well correlation and development geophysics.

  • Demonstrated fundamental geomodelling knowledge using Petrel.

  • Able to integrate seismic, log, core, and engineering data to characterize and highlight stratigraphic/sedimentologic elements of fluvial-deltaic reservoirs.

  • Participation in primary and secondary oil recovery projects.

  • Must be able to communicate in English, orally and written.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills especially in a NOJV environment.

  • Exhibits Chevron Way behaviors and demonstrates strong partnering skills in a challenging environment.

International Considerations:Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
